silc-client
- install the silc-client from http://silcnet.org/
- for Debian GNU/Linux or Ubuntu see the howto on the silcnet-webpage
- type silc -c catbull.com at a cli
- an use the following command to join the channel: /join #oink
irssi
- install install the irssi-silc plugin from http://penguin-breeder.org/silc/
- for Debian GNU/Linux or Ubuntu install the ,,irssi-plugin-silc'' and ,,irssi'' package
- type irssi at a cli
- load the plugin: /load silc
- connect to the server: /connect -silcnet sn catbull.com
- join the channel: /join #oink
use any other silc capable im-client
